In recent years, black and white has seen a resurgence of interest and a new appreciation. It shouldn’t be a surprise, since black and white offers a certain mood and timeless appeal. Digital black and white photography possesses a classic, if not elegant, quality.
Some people say that colour remains King, I can understand that as there is nothing like an eye popping image that just draws the viewer into it. However, the impact that good/great black and white images can have is I think sometimes even greater.
Black and white photography is still regarded as a favourite with many photographers – dull landscape scenes become more dramatic with black and white photography. Black and white landscape photography is becoming popular again and is more suitable for taking images when the day is dull or too bright. If you like your black and white images and you like them captured well then just take a look at this E-book. There are 43 stunning black and white landscape/seascape/cityscape images that will have you looking at them for ages and then coming back to have another look.
This is not a ‘how to book’, it is not a training aid, it is not a tricks and tips book. This is a book of stunning black and white landscape and seascape photography, a Portfolio of Jason’s work. Jason has kindly allowed me to include four of the 46 images in this short review, I picked the ones that were my favourite of the bunch, having said that, they are all very sepecial.

A shot from the banks of the picturesque Derwentwater, Cumbria, England. Storm clouds were never far from view, which was all Jason Needed to capture this iconic Lakeland shot.

After a steep scramble down from the roadside Jason managed to take this shot at Loch Laggan, Scottish Highlands, Scotland. He considers this shot to be a work in progress, a common occurrence when he may spend years revisiting a location.

Jason loves shooting iconic structures as well as landscape and seascape scenes. He loves the challenge of trying to create a unique perspective on an extremely popular viewpoint. I think he quite succeeded with this shot, this is probably one of my very favourites from the set of images.

Jason's first ever shot using his much loved 10x filter. An early morning shot on the banks of Kielder Reservoir, Northumberland, England.
